Village Potential (Podes) is the only complete village-level data collection carried out by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Podes is also the only complete regional data collection owned by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). This means that Podes data is always looked forward to and becomes a reference for many parties. Therefore, the validity and accuracy of Podes data is absolutely necessary. The last Podes data collection was carried out in 2021, and it was not carried out for two years due to various factors.
The aim of the 2024 Podes Data Collection is to produce data for regional development needs, providing data on regional potential, availability of infrastructure/facilities, and socio-economic conditions in each village/sub-district. Meanwhile, the specific objectives of Podes 2024 are:
1. Provide data that can support planning activities for the 2026 Economic Census.
2. As a means for Updating Village Master Files (MFD).
3. Provide data on the existence and development of potential in the village/sub-district which includes: social, economic, regional facilities and infrastructure.
4. Provide data for village typology classification purposes.
5. As a data source for updating statistical work area maps.
6. Provide basic data for the preparation of small area statistics.
7. Provide data for the preparation of various analyzes such as identification and determination of disadvantaged villages, context variables in PMT, identification of disaster-prone villages, and identification of villages that have geographical difficulties.
8. Provide data for calculating village development/progress indicators.
