On this occasion, the supervisor of the rally read out a message from the DEPUTY FOR DISTRIBUTION STATISTICS AND SERVICES BPS RI at this morning's rally in Jakarta.
Several important points conveyed in the apple's message are as follows:
1. One of the macro indicators that is routinely released by BPS every mid-month is the trade balance. The release of this indicator is eagerly awaited by observers and policy makers.
2. Export-import data is the result of a compilation of administrative products
sourced from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). BPS together with DJBC routinely coordinate to evaluate quality
the resulting data.
3. Another indicator that has an important role in the national economy is the price index. BPS
as a data provider, it has produced price indices at various levels and calculation scopes, such as the Producer Price Index, Wholesale Price Index, and Consumer Price Index.
4. Inflation data calculated by BPS plays an important role for many parties, including the government, BI and business actors.
5. BPS innovates by utilizing the use of transaction reading machines (data scanners) and web-scrapping technology as new data sources/methods in
price data collection. Apart from that, BPS also collects price data centrally by utilizing administrative data from
several agencies on certain commodities, such as electricity rates, drinking water rates & internet rates.
6. Since 2016, BPS has released ICT (Technology, Information and Communication) development indicators which refer to international standards issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as one measure of ICT development in Indonesia, which is currently in the moderate range (i.e. 5.85) in 2022.
