One effort to collect productivity data in the agricultural sector, especially food crops, is through the Ubinan Survey. The aim of this survey is to calculate rice productivity which is useful for determining the amount of paddy and rice production. Errors in estimating rice production results begin with errors in calculating rice productivity which will have an impact on national rice production figures.
Since 2018, BPS has begun to standardize the Ubinan Survey (especially rice) by combining it with the Area Sample Frame (KSA) method. Area Sample Frame Survey (KSA) to obtain objective, accurate, fast and modern harvest area data using the KSA device/application which is carried out every month. By combining the two, the Rice Tiles Survey was carried out on land where the very points in the KSA subsegment were located. The KSA-Based Rice Tiles Survey is carried out every subround (four months) using a sampling method determined by BPS RI.
In 2020, the KSA-Based Rice Tiles Survey began to be conducted using computer assisted personal interviewers (CAPI). KSA Based Rice Tiles Survey Officers are provided with an application installed on their respective Android devices which will be used as a replacement for paper questionnaires. With CAPI, officers can send tile result data directly immediately after taking field measurements. The data obtained is also more accurate, because in the KSA-Based Tile Survey application, the coordinates where the tile plot is located will be recorded in the application.
Monday-Wednesday, 20-22 November 2023, located at Bentani Hotel and Residence Jl. Siliwangi Cirebon City, BPS Cirebon Regency held Training for Rice and Corn KSA Survey Officers. This activity was opened directly by the Head of BPS Cirebon Regency, Judiharto Trisnadi, and attended by the Intermediate Statistician of BPS Cirebon Regency, Yanti Heryanti. This training activity was attended by 43 participants and divided into two classes. Serving as instructors were Joko Mulyanto and M. Zamroni.
In this training, KSA officers delivered learning material related to improving data collection methods using technology so that the data produced is more accurate, objective and timely. Apart from in the classroom, learning is also carried out through direct practice sessions for measuring rice productivity in rice fields.
The hope is that by holding this KSA training, rice/corn productivity data and other supporting information related to rice/corn farming can be of higher quality.
